On August 5, 2017, I got to celebrate with Justine and Mike’s wedding at The Villa at Ridder Country Club. The bride and her wedding party, along with her family, got ready at her home. I always love when brides opt out of the a hotel for getting ready. While hotels are extremely convenient, I love the story that being home can tell. Photos of family adorn the walls and everyone is so comfortable and relaxed.
The girls wore matching custom tank tops, perfect for the warm summer day. Hair and makeup was provided by Salon B in Dartmouth, MA. Salon B’s team was extremely efficient, with hair and makeup done right on time!
I arrived at The Villa in time to do the bride and groom’s first look. First I found a beautiful little courtyard that was PERFECT. Then went inside to get the groom…. and the down pour started. We had a quick change of plans and moved the first look to the Madera Room where their reception would be held. The helpful staff moved some tables out of the way so I would have room for a first look and the bridal party photos.
Luckily, the rain stopped about 10 minutes before ceremony time. Chairs were still wet as guests arrived, but the staff was working on getting them dry for everyone! Although most of the ceremony was overcast, just as the couple exchanged rigs, the sun broke through! It was a truly special moment, my favorite of the year. Sunshine beat down directly on the couple for the rest of the ceremony with dark storm clouds rolling away behind them.
The Madera Garden at the Villa was stunning. Garden ceremony spaces are some of my favorite. First, it was landscaped beautifully. Summer blossoms were everywhere. Next, it was only about 100 feet from the reception location. That made it very easy for guests. Lastly, it was private. Often at country club weddings you have foot traffic and golfers near by. The Madera Garden was an extremely private ceremony space! Most of all, the Madera Garden was PERFECT for photographs!
There is a large room for guests during cocktail hour at the Madera Room. The wedding venue then allows access down the hallway to the main ballroom. The golden uplighting is part of the venue! The vaulted wood ceilings add a vintage rustic feel to the otherwise modern venue. The large fireplace was beautiful. I can only imagine how lovely a winter wedding would be with it lit!
