There are many things I love about working at Crystal Lake in Burrillville, RI. First, it’s about 5 minutes from my house, so that definitely makes the late night drive home wonderful! Next, the outdoor ceremony area sits tucked back in the woods on the lake. It is perfect for a woodsy gal like myself. The club house is a good size with a deck out back. If you have any lawn games, the deck is perfect for that. While Crystal Lake is not your typical barn type venue, it is still perfect for a rustic wedding. Dominic and Heather had their Crystal Lake rustic wedding in the early summer. It was warm, sun shining, and everything was absolutely perfect!
I tell all my couples that it is completely possible to cover bride and groom prep with just one photographer as long as it’s planned out properly. Hether and Dominic chose to do just that! With every minute planned out ahead of time, I was able to start my day with the girls hair and makeup. As they were getting close to done, I went over to the guys a town over. As you probably know, guys get ready in about 2 minutes. Due to that, I had plenty of time to head back to the girls for their finishing touches and getting dressed. We had plenty of time to also get all of the girls’ photos done as well as the bride with her family, all before heading to the ceremony!
Once I arrived at Crystal Lake, I hung out at the pub with the guys before it was time to head to the ceremony. The outdoor patio overlooking the golf course was perfect for all the guys portraits with the groom.
Set back in the woods, Crystal Lake’s ceremony area is stunning. With the lake in the background and the setting sun shining through the trees, it is one of my favorite ceremony locations to photograph. The bride and groom had the wooden benches filled with their friends and family. The bride arrived in an antique car and had Dd walk her down the aisle. The couple’s peacock theme ran throughout the day, with hints of teal and purple throughout. The Catholic ceremony (yes, that’s right, best priest ever) included a unity candle and balloon release.
Crystal Lake is absolutely beautiful, but uplighting this venue makes a world of difference! Purple accents of light filled the room, complimenting all of the couple’s decorations. The event coordinator at Crystal Lake, Tracy, didn’t miss a beat all night. Everything ran smoothly and the room was beautiful. I truly enjoy a wedding venue staff that knows their stuff! Last, but not least, I pulled the bride and groom outside for a night photo in front of their venue. My night is never complete without that photo!
