An Intimate Summer Wedding at Colt State Park in Bristol, Rhode Island

As a Bristol, Rhode Island Wedding Photographer, I love wedding days that feel completely true to the couple—and this intimate summer wedding at Colt State Park was exactly that. From handmade details and private vows to wood-fired pizza and sunset portraits, the entire celebration centered on what mattered most: spending time with the people they love.

An Intimate Summer Wedding at Colt State Park in Bristol, Rhode Island

As a Bristol, Rhode Island Wedding Photographer, I love wedding days that feel completely true to the couple—and this intimate summer wedding at Colt State Park was exactly that. From handmade details and private vows to wood-fired pizza and sunset portraits, the entire celebration centered on what mattered most: spending time with the people they love.

A Laid-Back Colt State Park Wedding Ceremony

The couple chose beautiful Colt State Park in Bristol, Rhode Island, for their summer ceremony. It was a warm, sunny day, with the waterfront creating the perfect New England backdrop.

Before the ceremony, the couple shared a first look and privately read their vows to one another. Having that quiet time together before joining their family and friends fit the relaxed feeling they wanted for their wedding day.

Their dog was also able to join them and be part of the ceremony, making the celebration feel even more personal.

Afterward, we spent just a few minutes taking family portraits and photographs with the family’s vintage Monte Carlo. Of course, we couldn’t leave Colt State Park without sneaking away for a few portraits overlooking the ocean!

Handmade Wedding Details and a Backyard Reception

The bride designed and created nearly everything herself, including many of the florals. Freshly picked blooms were combined with wooden flowers throughout the wedding, creating a unique look that complemented their ivory and dusty-blue color palette.

The creativity continued at their tented reception at a private home. Guests received an incredibly fun wedding magazine all about the couple, complete with crossword puzzles. Postcards featuring photographs from their engagement session were available for guests to write messages to the newlyweds—a personal alternative to a traditional guest book.

Dinner kept with the casual atmosphere, too. A pizza truck served fantastic wood-fired pizzas while everyone relaxed, ate, and enjoyed the summer evening together.

Sunset Wedding Photos at Home

One of my favorite parts of a laid-back wedding timeline is having the freedom to sneak away when the light is just right. As sunset approached, we stepped away from the reception for a few minutes.

Instead of traveling somewhere elaborate, we simply walked down the neighborhood road and around their yard. The beautiful summer sunset gave us some of my favorite portraits of the entire day before the couple headed right back to celebrating.

As a Bristol, Rhode Island Wedding Photographer, days like this are a reminder that a wedding doesn’t need an enormous guest list or complicated timeline to be meaningful. This couple intentionally created a celebration that allowed them to be present with their friends and family—and their photographs reflect exactly that.
