Wedding Day Makeup Know How with Amanda Melo

As a wedding photographer, I get the pleasure of working with many makeup artists throughout the Providence area. One of my favorites is Amanda Melo! ModMakeup by Amanda Melo offers a ton of great services on top of wedding day hair and makeup. I sat down with Amanda and got to pick her brain about what brides need to know about wedding day makeup!

Hi Amanda! Tell me a little bit about your business and what you offer brides.

My business provides makeup application, waxing, and lash extension services. I have been a licensed aesthetician for a little over three years. I enjoy helping people feel comfortable in their own skin.

What is your favorite part of working with brides on their wedding day?

My favorite part of working with brides is helping them feel their most beautiful version of themselves during a special milestone.

What are the latest makeup trends for brides?

During this past season I received more requests than usual for natural dewy skin and thick natural looking brows.

I hear a lot of makeup artists talking about airbrush versus regular foundation. Can you tell me the difference between the two?

The airbrush company’s formula I use is waterproof and sweatproof. It has less of a makeup transfer onto clothing than regular foundation. Regular foundation is applied differently onto the skin than airbrush. I also feel that it can be more matte and a heavier coverage depending on how you apply it to the skin.

We all know great skin starts well before the wedding day. What is one KEY thing a bride can do leading up to the wedding to ensure beautiful skin?

The best thing any bride can do to help their skin become wedding ready is to first have it analyzed by a professional. They can then figure out and start a regimen catered to their own skin’s needs.
