A few months ago I noticed a series of styled shoots put together by the editor of Wedding Boston. Full of the latest trends and wedding details, I knew Jenny was someone I wanted to work with. When I saw a blush styled shoot coming up, I knew I had to be a part of it! Blush and gold have been part of my branding colors for the wedding side of my business since inception. And considering I had only had one wedding that matched, this was a great opportunity to get some branding images!
Going in as lead on this shoot got me thinking, how will this benefit the businesses of those involved? I have arranged plenty of styled shoots for high school seniors. In fact, it was a passion of mine at the beginning of my career. But weddings is a WHOLE different ball game! I always kind of hated that everything was so perfect. Nothing was every like that on a real wedding day. Models aren’t awkward in front of the camera. Twenty minutes to photograph a cake is unheard of. Never mind hours with a bride and groom! So why a styled shoot?
My number one goal going into this event was gaining branding images. I have a clear vision of what fits my brand, and this was it! I have a whole new folder of “stock”images for my branding pieces ready to go after the blush styled shoot.
Second biggest piece for me was getting to work with other vendors and photographers. Every time I work along side another photographer, I learn something. I always hope that they learn from me too! Not only photographers, nut a whole slew of vendors come together to make the event happen. I got to meet new hair and makeup stylists, florists, cake designer, and got to hang with one of Boston’s wedding publishers! This is HUGE! Wedding industry vendors can be a lifeline. Clients are always looking for information and I love having a strong network of amazing vendors to refer.
Do you have new gear? Want to practice a new lighting technique? Styled shoots are a great way to test out new things! You have zero pressure on messing up, or taking too much time. You can hone new skills in a controlled environment. Learning from other photographers during the event is also key!
Last but not least, building your portfolio at a styled event can be extremely beneficial to a photographer that is just starting to branch into weddings. Sometimes these images can be just what you need to start booking second shooting gigs, or even your first wedding!

What a gorgeous styled shoot from Danyel Stapelton Photography for Wedding Boston Magazine! Great tips for making styled shoots work for everyone involved and this is a perfect example. Beautiful photography that showcases every single element, from the dresses, to the details. Everything is absolutely perfect.
The bright painted brick and touches of greenery are the perfect compliement to this soft color palette. Blush is definitely the weeding color of 2018 and you captured it beautifully. This styled shoot will have Wedding Boston Magazine readers swooning 🙂
These images from this styled shoot are so beautiful! I love the softness in the color palette and how the shots look so natural. Wonderful shoot from Danyel Stapleton and an awesome team!
Such a beautiful blush inspired shoot by Danyel Stapleton Photography for Wedding Boston Magazine. Every image works wonderfully on their own and showcases the whole feel of the shoot together. I love so many images but my highlights are the chair/floral, groom solo in warehouse and ALL the couple portraits! Really nice job!
This styled wedding session is so pretty it’s crazy!!! Gorgeous blush and gold tones for wedding details and Danyel Stapleton-you photographed it all with grace and charm. Great work!
