After an amazing engagement photo session in Boston, I was beyond excited to capture Kristen and Joe’s wedding day at The Red Barn at Outlook Farm. I had the opportunity to really get to know these two during our engagement session. Spending so much time, and learning a couple’s history, always makes the wedding day so special for me.
My day started in the wonderful Portsmouth, NH. Over the past year, Portsmouth has become one of my favorite cities. Little over an hour north of Boston, Portsmouth makes a great “destination” for weddings. Kristen and Joe got ready in a Downtown hotel. I was able to pop between the two getting ready, saving the need for a second photographer.
Kristen chose deep reds and golds to compliment her rustic winter wedding. The bridesmaids’ dresses were all slightly different in the same wine color. They were perfect.
Portwalk Alley in Downtown Portsmouth was the perfect spot for the couple’s first look. While this was the COLDEST, WINDIEST day of my wedding career, we stuck it out! Thank goodness the girls from Top Knots are amazing and all the girl’s hair withstood the blustery winter winds!
We took the trolley over to Prescott Park to get all of the wedding party photos done prior to the ceremony. This was essential since the ceremony would take us past sunset. The couple wanted to get those beautiful naturally lit photos for their album.
Since it was so cold, I had everyone running back and forth to the trolley. I did my best to let people warm up while I worked as quickly as possible. My hands were numb by the time we finished!
If you are going for a Catholic ceremony, Fridays are the best! Why, you may ask? NO 5 O’CLOCK MASS! I am often rushed out of the church on Saturdays because theres with Mass, Confession, or another wedding directly after. Friday weddings are amazing because it’s usually the last event of the day. We are able to get immediate family photos in front of the alter. While I’m not Catholic, I LOVE the intricate designs that most Catholic Churches have. Filled with warm rich colors and gold tones, the alter was perfect for some classic bride and groom photos pf Kristen and Joe.
Following the ceremony, the wedding party took the trolley over to The Red Barn at Outlook Farm in South Berwick, Maine. The reception location was about 30 minutes from Portsmouth. It was an easy drive! The venue is gorgeous. A perfect rustic venue for a winter wedding. Cocktail hour was held in the front room while the couple was able to take a look at the reception area before the guests were let in.
The reception room was BIG! Plenty of room for a large wedding. The high ceilings and beams made for a unique and beautiful rustic venue. It was the perfect spot to warm up on a cold winter night!

You make an excellent point about Catholic weddings – on the weekends, there’s always something else going on, so weddings get rushed out the door. It’s nice to have the time for portraits. I love the details in this wedding – the Groom’s personalized tie clip is quite dapper. The Red Barn at Outlook Farm makes a wonderful backdrop for their rustic details.
What gorgeous wedding photography from The Red Barn at Outlook Farm! I love all the deep reds in this romantic, rustic wedding. Prescott Park was such a great choice for a first look location. You nailed every single part of this wedding from New Hampshire to Maine! Beautiful, timeless photos this couple is sure to treasure.
Beautiful wedding at the Red Barn at Outlook! I love the photography of those gorgeous wedding flowers.
What a gorgeous wedding day at The Red Barn at Outlook Farm. Danyel Stapleton Photography captured all the wedding details perfectly. So many beautiful photos for the couple to cherish.
Daniel Stapleton did such a wonderful job with this Red Barn at Outlook Farm wedding! I love how they had a rustic wedding during the Winter. I feel like I see those more in the Fall and this had a refreshing feel to the whole day. Loved it!
Absolutely adored his reaction to the first look!
