Sometimes as artists we have a vision. An image that will not escape the mind. It forces and pushes its way out any way it can.
This session was a vision I had about six months ago. I knew I wanted to take on maternity photography. After predominately working with young women, as seniors and the mothers of newborns, maternity only made sense. When my makeup artist agreed to not only let me photograph her, but gave me creative control, I was ecstatic. From the very beginning of the session, the images poured directly from my head, through my hands, and into my camera. It was truly magical.
This session has been a turning point for me. I learned things about myself that I didn’t know. I saw light in a way I never had. I realized that if I was going to shoot maternity, THIS is how I was going to do it. One on one. Celebrating a mother. It’s intimate, and universal. It’s pure beauty.
