I can honestly say that I have spent the last year anxiously awaiting Jamie and Ryan’s Hawthorne Hotel wedding in Salem, MA. First, if you weren’t aware, every day in October is Halloween in Salem. When Jamie told me she wanted to walk around town and just capture the spirit pf Salem, I knew this wedding was going to be one of the best of the year!
After getting ready at The Hawthorne Hotel (I’ll get to that later), we walked over to the House of Seven Gables for Ryan and Jamie’s ceremony. I have visited the historic home my entire life. It is a staple tourist attraction. The ground in the rear of the house served as a ceremony space. Right on the water, it was a beautiful view.
The couple walked the aisle together. A branched arch enveloped them as they exchanged vows and had a hand fasting ceremony. Hand fasting is one of my favorite wedding traditions.
Yeah, I can say, it was pretty awesome. Salem is a blast around Halloween. The extra special attention you get when you have newly weds hitting the street is PRICELESS! We casually strolled through the city, stopping wherever we saw a nice spot. Best of all, we got a photo with a group of cosplayers!
Whenever I think of the Hawthorne, I think haunted. While no strange happenings occurred, the ambiance was incredible. I am a sucker for anything historical. The Grand Ballroom was nothing short of spectacular.
Finally, to end the evening, I took Jamie and Ryan back out to the common for their night shot. It was lightly sprinkling so I got to bust out the umbrella. They got to dance in the rain and it was amazing.
